Demonstration cum Input distribution of vegetable pea cultivation in two locations, Sarikhusi and Nongagang villages under Farmers FIRST Programme
A programme on demonstration cum vegetable pea cultivation was conducted on the 15th of January, 2019 at two locations, viz., Sarikhusi and Nongagang villages of Marngar areas, Meghalaya under the Farmers’ FIRST Project, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam. A total of fifty (50 nos.) interested farmers were present from eight different villages including Purangang, Nongagang, Nalapara, Lalumpam, Mawphrew Sarikhusi, Umtham and Borkhatsari and a total of 85 kg seeds were distributed to them. The seeds were distributed with an objective to encourage farmers to utilize the rice fallow for improving income and better utilization and management of resources. The programme was coordinated by Dr. H. Rymbai (Scientist - Horticulture), A. Barman (SRF), I. Swer (Field Assistant), L. Khongrymmai (Field Assistant) and Dr. R. Laha (Principal Scientist & PI, Farmers’ FIRST Project, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam).
